You shouldn't have to think about the camera on your wedding day

Your Only Job is to Marry Your Best Friend.

Your Wedding Photos Should Feel Like That Day Did.

No two wedding days are the same. Not really.

Every wedding is loaded with intricacies. Emotion. History. Things that are specific to you and nobody else. When you look at your photos, I want you to feel the rush of not just how it looked — but exactly how it felt. Those intricacies of such a monumental, unrepeatable day coming back all at once. That matters to me.

I don't photograph weddings the same way twice because I can't. And honestly? What I photograph differs in so many stinkin' ways — the setting, the light, the people, the souls, the love; and the imagery should always be true to each. I move between documentary, candid, and editorial depending on what each moment actually calls for. Fly on the wall most of the time. Intentional with direction when the light and emotion demand it.

I learn your people early — names, faces, who matters most — so when the moment happens with someone who loves you most, I already know where to look.

Most couples ask me what my style is. Here's my answer: I just call it "paying attention." Intuitive. Empathetic. Present. Here's exactly what that looks like across a full wedding day.

Based in Northern Illinois. Available everywhere your love story takes you.

Northern Illinois Wedding photographer since 2016 / 5 times mom (furry & human) / Husband's girl

Hi, I'm Nicole Kilday — Illinois & Wisconsin Wedding Photographer Since 2016

Since 2016 — and I'm still crying behind the camera at every single wedding.

Third-generation photographer. Cameras were basically furniture growing up — my dad learned in a basement darkroom, my grandpa taught him to pay attention, and somewhere along the way that became my whole thing too. Photos are proof. That you were here. That you loved. That it mattered.

Five-time mom (two humans, three German Shepherds). Wife to a blue-collar guy. Wildly dog obsessed. I care a lot more about connection than perfection — and chaos doesn't scare me. It's kind of where I thrive.

Your wedding day is loud and fast and emotional and sometimes chaotic in the best way. I help build timelines that give you space to actually experience it — and then I show up fully, because that's just who I am.

Some of what we create together will be guided. Most of it won't. Either way, it'll feel like you.

You get to be in it. I've got the rest.

let’s talk about what you’re actually here for

What Do I Actually Photograph?

Wedding & Family Photography Across Northern Illinois, Chicago, Lake Geneva & Southern Wisconsin — The Beginning and Everything After

I photograph weddings because I'm a romantic. I believe in the kind of love that does the hard work — that stays fully committed through all of it and builds something truly euphoric together. The merging of dreams into shared ones. A best friend who holds every key to your being. The beginning of a lifetime of endless possibilities.

I've been in the room for that moment more than 120 times. It never gets old.

After becoming a mom, I connected on a whole different level with families welcoming new additions and experiencing that kind of love for the first time. My oldest is five now — but I still have the photo of him almost perfectly fitting in my husband's hands at one week old. The cheeks that filled out. The fat cannoli legs.

I don't just want to remember my babies in every single form — I want to remember myself, and my husband, and our full circle love story too.

I know how important each version of your family is with the passing of time, because I'm living it too.

What Happens When Your Photographer Actually Invests in You?

"Every moment she captured feels real not staged - and brings us right back to how the day felt."

Real Words from Real Couples

“We honestly can’t say enough good things about Nicole. Believe it or not it was the first time I met Nicole and it felt like having a close friend around, not just someone there to take pictures. Nicole made being in front of the camera natural and fun. We were laughing, relaxed, and just genuinely happy. Of course our photos most definitely reflect that. Every moment she captured feels real, not staged, and looking back at them brings us right back to how the day felt. If you’re looking for someone who’s not only talented but also a blast to be around on your big day, this is your person. We’re beyond grateful.”

  • “I have known Nicole for many years now and first and foremost, she is a beautiful person inside and out. Her kindness radiates in every room she is in! When my now husband and I got engaged back in 2023, there was not a doubt or question in my mind who I wanted as our wedding photographer; Nicole Kilday!!!!! The candidness and realness of her photos were beyond beautiful and awe-filled. Nicole’s art is the epitome of life, love, candidness, and real moments captured. Her presence gave me such a sense of calm and reassurance. She is truly one of a kind.”

    • Moira & Colton

  • “Nicole shot our engagement photos in 2019, our wedding in 2020, my maternity photos in 2021, and our family pictures in 2022. Nicole is amazing in every session and season in life. She’s not only your insanely talented photographer but a therapist, a guide, a treasure in every step of your journey. She’s easy to get along with, relatable and just a wonderful human in every way. We love her dearly and recommend her to everyone.”

    • Carly & Matt

  • “Nicole coordinated, officiated, and shot my surprise elopement and when I say that day would not have been possible without her, I mean it. She truly wants your photos to reflect who YOU are. She is down to earth, prepared, and on her A-game. She may be small, but she is mighty and will get the job done right! I can’t recommend her enough. 10/10.”
